Stan Kilos, Wintersville Chief
of Police, seated on the left, turn-
ed in his resignation effective
February 1, 1965. His letter of
resignation was read and ac-
cepted at Tuesday night's Council
meeting.
Chief Kilos was appointed Police
Chief for the Village of Winters-
ville after the death of Mr. Finn
Ryan. Mr. Kilos servedhis office
well and with his background
.as a State Patrolman, he trained
Patrolman Calabrese and Patrol-
man Trimmer to become an ef-
ficient police department. Under
his guidance, the department
formed a Police Auxiliary, which
is active at all sport events held
in the village and are on call
for all enmergenicies which may
arise.
Victor Calabrese, seated on the
left, was.. appotnted by Mayor
Albaugh to serve as Acting Chief
of Police. Calabrese officially
started his appointment as Chief
of Police January 18, 1965. Chief
Calabrese stated that he will
carry out his duties to the best
of his ability and that he and
Patrolman Trimmer will con-
tinue to serve the Village along
with the Police Auxiliary, who
will help fill in the vacant patrol-
man position for the timfbting.
The Wintersville sewer project
is under way in area "C", north-
east of route 43 in the Crawford
Ave. section. The roadway to that
disposal plant is in and the sewer
line from the plant site to the
street has been completed. The
citizens in that area are re-
sponsible for being first as there
were no refusals to signing
easements and work could pro-
gress.
Early in 1964 the work of getting
easements began. We needed
more than 700 easements. There
are still approximately 100 to be
contacted. The cooperation of
citizens who have come to the
office to see plans and sign
easements is appreciated. Other-
wise personal contacts take much
time and especially when several
calls, must be made to find re-
sidents at home.
Final easement check-up is now
under way. YOU can help by
finding out if you have an un-
signed easement, then signing it.
If you are one of the few who
said "NO", you may changeyour
decision. On Friday the first
action will be taken to legally
cross properties where ease-
ments have not been signed. Of-
ficials cannot permit less than
10% of the property owners to
stop a project desired by more
than 90% of property owners.
