honored for her fifteen years
of leadership In Girl Scouting,
at the regular meeting of Hill
Neighborhood of the Upper Ohio
Valley Girl Scout Council.
Mrs. Harold Guy, Neighborhood
Chairman, presented an engraved
statuette of a Girl Scout to Mrs.
Hendricks who has been the
leader' of Troop 464, formerly
troop 24, for fifteen years. The
statuette is an inspirational
symbol given to an honored few
In scouting.

County Council
George S. Hall, a member of
the Wintersville American
Legion Post 557, is a candidate
for the office of Commander
of the Jefferson County Council
of the American Legion.
Nominations of new officers will
be held April 14 at t4he Dillon-
vale Post at 8:00 P.M.
The Election of officers will
be held at the Toronto Post,
May 13 at 8:00 P.M.

Babe Ruth League
Registration Date Set
Slim Perring, Commissioner,
has announced that all boys
wishing to play in the Wintersville
Babe Ruth League will register
Saturday, April 10, from noon
to 4:00 P.M. at the Wintersville
Grange Hall.
Measurements for uniforms will
be taken also.
Ages 13-15 for Juniors and
16-18 Seniors are eligible to
register.

Mrs. Leo Coulehan, a district
chairman of the council was re-
presented by Mrs. Wayne Cole
in the presentation in a capping
ceremony to honor a leader's
true worth. Often times, a leader
serves the girls as confidant,
nurse and friend.. Many.,, timUnes
those outside s.couting never know
the many kindnesses extended
by a leader to those under her
guiding hand.
Mrs. Hendricks with her many
years of service, not only to the
girls, but to the community has
been held in high esteem by her
church,, community and family.
Watercraft Registration
Agents Noted
COLUMBUS- With the rapidly
approaching boating season the
Division of Watercraft has listed
the agents at which may be
secured 1965 registrations for
boats and outboard motors.
"Boaters are reminded that in
orler to secure a registration
for a new boat or outboard motor,
it is necessary that proof of
ownership he presented to the
registration agent, such as a re-
ceipted sales invoice, affidavit
of ownership or a Certificate
of Title", said Paul Sarossy,
Chief of the Division.
For a renewal or transfer re-
gistration the former registra-
tion must be presented. If this
registration has been lost or
destroyed, a duplicate may be
obtained from the Division of
Watercraft, 1500 Dublin Road,
Columbus, 43212. A service
charge of 25 cents for each
duplicate is required.
If the boat number which appears
on the 1965 registration differs
from that which appears on the
boat, the Division of Watercraft
should be notified immediately.

Automobile Club, 149 N. Third
St., Steubenville.
Council Considering
Garbage And Rubbish
Collection In Village
Mayor Thomas Albaugh pre-
sided at the meeting of Winters-
ville Council in the Municipal
Building on Tuesday at 7:30 P.M.
All members of Council and
Village officers were present.
Land necessary for sewage dis-
posal plants for areas A and
D has been secured from Joseph
Rozsa and others. Plant D will
be located south of the Winters-
ville Corporation line and will
serve the area south of Main
'Street between Fernwood Road
and Woodridge Drive. Plant A
will be located south of Beech-
wood Subdivision and will serve
all of the area west of the Junction
of Highways 22 and 43 and west
of Woodridge Drive.
Plants B-, C, and E, the access,
roads to them, and the sewer
lines in these areas are under
construction.
Mr. Preston Woodall, con-
tractor for construction of sewer
lines, was present and em-
phasized the urgency of com-
pleting the easements still un-
signed. Stoppage in work because
of an easement not completed
will cause an increase in cost
of the project, as well as in-
convenience to the workmen.
It was reported that through
cooperation of the State High-
way Department, ,Wintersville
streets will be swept ,asrapidly
as the equipment is available
for use.
Renewal of the designation of
the First National Bank as the
depository for Village fundis was
passed by Council.
A number of citizens were
present and were given the op-
portunity to present their
problems for consideration.
It was announced that there will
be a report at the next council
meeting from the committee ap-
pointed to consider a proposed
plan for garbage and rubbish
collection in the Village. The
next Council meeting will be on
April 20, 1965 at 7:30 P.M.
Ohio State Highway
Auxiliary Plans Meeting
Three members and one Patrol
Officer of the Jefferson County
group of the Ohio State High-
way Patrol Auxiliary will travel
to Columbus April 10, for their
annual two-day state meeting,
according to Auxiliary Major
Park Ogden, in charge of the
local volunteers.
He said the following local
Auxiliary members will join the
anticipated 800 Ohioans in
Columbus: Cpl. M.E. Kijowski
Patrol, Major Park Ogden,
Auxiliary, Donald Dye, Auxiliary
Ronald Hout.
Featured speaker for the formal
session Sunday morning will be
Ohio State University football
coach, W.W. (Woody) Hayes. Dr.
Carl Byers, well known Cleveland
Educator and after - dinner
speaker, will appear at the
Saturday evening banquet.
The Highway Patrol Auxiliary
has a total statewide active mem-
bership of 3,0(0. All are mem-
bers, of the American Legion.
Patrol Sergeant W.C. McCleery,
commanding officer of the Steu-
benville Post and supervisor of
the local Auxiliary group, ex-
plained that the Auxiliary was
formed early in World War II
when Patrol manpower was de-
pleted due to demands of the
military.

The first place winner of the
oratorical contest sponsored by
Prince Albert Lodge No., 232
and Jefferson Temple No. 391
was Miss Carol Mitchell, a jun-
ior at Wintersville High School.
The second place winner was
Mr. John A. Mitchell, a Senior
at Wintersville High School. The
students are brother and sister
and are tle children of Mr. and
Mrs. Oscar Mitchell of 146 Ells-
worth Street. Wintersville.
The other contestants were:
Miss Joyce Ann Marcus, a sen-
ior; Miss Bessie Montgomery, a
junior, both of Steubenville High
School, and Miss Edrina Dam-
eron, a junior at Wintersville
High School.
Miss Mitchell will go to Mas-
sillon, April 11 to compete with
several other winners from the
Northern District of Ohio for
the district title. She will be

test will go to Dayton, June 18
to compete with two other district
winners for the state title. The
Ohio State winner will go to
Detroit, July 17 to compete with
the state winners from six other
states for the regional title. Each

scholarship. They will give thir
orations August 18 for the Grnd
Lodge convention in Phila4elphla.
The judges for the local Con-
test .were Dennis J. Palmer, a
member of the Board of Directors
for the College of Steubenville,
Judge John R. Spon, Juvenile
and Probate Court Judge, and
James T. Wares, a prihcipal
of Weir High School, in Weir-
ton, W. Va.
