Stebenville. Brenda has an "arrested" ubercuo it
was found she had the dread disease when shewas7 years old,
and was sent to Molly Stark Sanatorium in Canton for a three month
stay.
The Christmas Seal Campaign opened in Jefferson County November
16th. Contributions will carry on the Tuberculosis Eradication pro-
gram initiated in September whent the Tine Test was offered to the
public. The Campaign goal this year is $25,000.00 Make checks
payable to Jefferson County Tuberculosis and Health Association.
Mary Belle Wade Voted
Mary Belle Wade, Certified
Bowling instructor at Sunset Bowl
has been voted in as a member
of the Professional Woman Bowl-
er's Association, a select group
of the nation's outstanding woman
bowlers.
Mary Belle received notification
from Georgia E. Veatch, execu-
tive Director of theorganization
that she had met the require-
ments of PWBA, and that she
joins with the Officers and Dir-
ectors in congratulating her.
All members are voted on by
the Officers and Directors, and
entrance is based on abiltiy over
the years, including average,
tournament competition, etc.
Mary Belle will be eligible to
compete on the PWBA Pro Tour
in any or all of the Pro Tourna-
ments.

Host Buckeye Border
Conference Preview
The annual Buckeye Border
Conference basketball preview
will be held at Jefferson Union
High School Wednesday, Novem-
ber 24, 1965.
The conference teams, consist-
ing of Jefferson Union, Beaver
Local, Springfield Local, South-
ern Local, Toronto and Wells-
ville, plus Wintersville, will par-
ticipate in the preview, with each
team playing two eight minute
quarters.
The first game will begin at
7:00 p.m. when Jefferson Union
will meet Wellsville. The rest
of the evening the schedule will
be as follows: 7:30, Wellsville
vs. Wintersville; 7:40 Winters-
ville vs. Beaver Local; 8:00 Bea-
ver Local vs. Southern Local;
8:40, Springfield Local vs.
Toronto; and at 9:00, Toronto will
meet Jefferson Union to wind up
the evening affair.
Lunch will be served to the
participating teams following the
games.
Officials for the games will be
furnished by the W.V.O. officials
organization.
Admission will be $1.00 for
adults and no reserve seats will
be sold. Student tickets will be
fifty cents.
To Be Finest Yet
This year's Jefferson County
Music Festival promises to be the
finest yet. This Festival, slated
for November 23 at Brilliant High
School, is an annual event and is
sponsored by the Ohio Music Edu-
cation Association.
All county schools in Jefferson
County will participate. The best
musicians from each school will
combine to form a 120 voice
chorus and a 110 piece band.
The guest conductor for the
chorus is George Strickling who
has had a distinquished career as
conductor, clinician, author,
arranger, and composer. Mr.
Strickling has taught public
school music at Cleveland
Heights for 35 years.
The guest conductor for the band
is Don McCathren, associate pro-
fessor of music and director of
bands at Duquesne University.
Mr. McCathren maintains a busy
schedule of appearances as a
guest conauctor, clarinet solo-
ist, clinician and adjudicator. He
has toured Europe several times
as associate conductor of the
School Band of America.
HI-Y DANCE SCHEDULED
The Hi-Y Club will sponsor
a dance at the Wintersville High
School on November 24th from
8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. featur-
ing the "2 Plus 2's" with Kenny
Aumiller on the Organ.
Admission 50(. Every one wel-
come.
The proceeds of the dance will
be used for the Hi-Y's Christmas
Charity's Program.

164 Girds Twirl In
Recreation Program
There was a large turn out of
twirlers for the Cross Creek
Recreation Area's program
Saturday morning in Buchanan
Gym. 92 girls, 9 years old and
up, showed up for the first ses-
sion, 8:30 .o 9:30 a.m. and 72
girls up to 9 years of age, took
part in the second session, 9:30
to 10:00 a.m.
The schedule remains the same
as for last Saturday for Satur-
day, November 20th with girls
9 and up from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
and girls up to 9 years of age
from 9,.30 to 10:30 a.m. This
will be the last morning of twirl-
ing instructions until January
when another four weeks of in-
structions are planned. Every-
one is welcome to participate.
The schedule for the Adult Pro-
gram for the week of November
21 to November 27 is Men's
Volleyball and Basketball on
Monday night, November 22 from
7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Women's
Volleyball and Physical Fitness
on November 23rd, Tuesday from
8:00 to 9:30 p.m.

Gas CnaIy Anounces
Rate Decrease
Additional decreases in the
natural gas rates in Steubenville
and several neighboring com-
munities, effective December 1,
were announced by the Ohio Val-
ley Gas Co.
The reductions announced today
will amount to 88 one-hundreths
of a cent per thousand cubic feet
in Steubenville, Brilliant, Em-
pire, Irondale, New Alexandria,
Rayland, Richmond, Stratton,
Tiltonsville, Toronto and Win-
tersville.
The decreases in these com-
munities, combined with a 24
one-hundredths of a cent re-
duction announced October 29,
will result in a total decrease
on December 1 of one and 12
one-hundreths of a cent per
thousand cubic feet.
The natural gas rate in Mingo
Junction will be reduced one and
8 one-hundredths cents per
thousand cubic feet, effective
December 1.
The decreases come under pro-
visions of fuel cost clauses in
the communities' contracts with
the gas company and are the
result of rate reductions rom
suppliers.
Decreases also will affect large
volume industrial customers in
the areas.
