I The regular Council meet-
ing has been changed from

MAY
5TH,
YOUR
DAY!
Tuesday, May 5th, will be
more than just .another Spring
day! What you do or leave
undone Tuesday, May 5th,
will influence the life of your
Village, state and country,
and will eventually come to
bear on the citizens of the
countries round. the world!
During those 12 hours you will
have the privilege of choosing
candidates to represent you
in, your County, state and
national government. In the
utter privacy of the voting
booth you may take a positive
stand on the issues at stake,
j.ssqes affecting,your entire
fife!' Tuesday, May 5th, is
'Primary day, set aside for
Primary Elections but actually
it is your day, as important
in your scheme of life as the
man or,,woman you choose or
chose to marry!
Aristotle once said that it is
hetterfora city to be governed
by a good man than by good
laws. His wen turned' remark
holds a world of wisdom. You
cannot, even with good laws,
have good government without
good men and women holding
office. The Primaries give
you your first and best
opportunity to weed out the
incompetent and the self-
seekers from the competent
and the conscientious.
November ballots will either
carry the names ot men and
whom you thoughtfully chose
By EVE SEITER
or carelessly let ride in for
a chance to govern you!
It isn't enough to simply
vote! In these few remaining
days before the Primary
Election, take the time and.
trouble to find out more than
any candidate for office tells
you. Is he honest, will he
stand up and be counted, will
he "play- politics" to your
detriment? Is he running for
office to serve you or to sat-
isfy some personal yen for
prestige? Has he qualifications
for the office he seeks other
than being a nice guy? This
writer once clipped a par-
agraph concerning people from
if9 magazine. It may be too
inclusive but it comes close
dose to the bull's eye!!
"There are three kinds of
people in the world, 'the wills,
the won'ts and the can'ts.
The first accomplish every-
thing; the second oppose
everything;- the third fail in
everything"
This front page features
reproductions of both the Re-
publican and the Democratic
ballots. Study them now while-
you have the time. If you
don't know the candidates
start inquiring about them. A
few hours research now may
mean the difference between,
electing a truly qualified
candidate. or a weak one.
Remember that they will make
decisions for you.
Max Lernor once said, "Of
the many things we have done
to democracy in the past,
the worst has been the indigi
nity of taking it for_granted."
Gkood.^ vernent is ,'created by
good people; people who dis-
cover what is right and have
the courage to take their
stand on their principle.
Tuesday, May_ 5Sth is Primary
Election day. You will haye
the opportunity to decide on
highway issues, _ choose
candidates, party committee-
men and women, delegates
and-alternates. It's your day,
Don't take it for granted!!

TRUCK GOES OUT OF
CONTROL. ON CURVE
No one was injured in a dis-
trict traffic accident investi-
gated by the state highway pat-
rol Monday, April 27. A tractor-
trailer was damaged moderately
in an accident on Route 43, a
mile and a half southeast of
Richmond, at 10:30 a.m. Pat-
rolmen said Ernest W. Kuester,
27, of RD 1, Richmond,, lost
control of his empty tractor-
trailer on a right curve. The
outfit went off the left side of
the highway, through a guard-
rail, down an embankment and
through a farm fence. No charges
were filed.
