License Plates Due -Can Spring Be Far Behind?? VI
License plates for 1968 will go on sale at the License Bureau at
306 Main Street, Wintersville, on Saturday, March 16. Mrs. Carl
Roberts, Deputy Registrar has announced that the License Bureau
will be open all day Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the
convenience of area residents. 1968 License plates must be dis-
played by midnight, April 15.

The girls above are representative of the 520 Girl Scouts in Hill Neighborhood, who are divided into
23 troops and are observing their 56th Anniversary of Girl Scouts. Services which the girls perform
include: 300 Christmas Ditty Bags filled for Vietnam, they give gifts to Community Welfare, time to the
Community Chest, the Red Cross, the March of Dimes, and donate money to the Wintersville Hi-Y Club
project of sending the "Citizen" to servicemen, make favors for Nursing Homes, serve as Hospital
Aides and the Senior Scouts sponsor Day Camp for Retarded Children during the summer months.

Andrew Miller, Mayor of Steu-
benville, proclaimed the period
of March 8, 1968 to March 29,
1968, as the Eightieth Anni-
versary Celebration period in
honor of the Steubenville Build-
ing and Loan Association Com-
pany, founded on March 28, 1888.
The Mayor stated in the Pro-
clamation, that the company is
the oldest savings and loan in
the Tri-State and, in fact, is one
of the oldest in Ohio, second
only to the first savings and
loan association, established in
Delaware, Ohio on February 20,
1867.
Starting with capital stock of
$200,000.00, the assets of the
company have grown, and as of
now, total $15,000,000.00.
Mayor Miller further stated
that the Steubenville Building
and Loan Association Company
has shared in and contributed to
the economic stability and pro-
gress of Steubenville. Great
numbers of citizens of the Steu-
benville area have enjoyed a full-
er life by participation in the
home financing and savings pro-
grams offered by this company.
The Proclamation also states
that the officers, directors and
employees of the company have
demonstrated their genuine in-
terest in the progress of Steu-
benville and other area com-
munities by active participation
in civic affairs.

There are 71 registered Adults in the Scouting Program of Hill Neighborhood. The four divisions of
scouts are Brownies-ages 7 through 8, Juniors-ages 9 through 11, Cadettes-ages 12 through 14 and
Seniors-ages 15 through 17.
Steelmark Committee Meets To Plan Kickoff Events
Wheeling Steel Corporation was host to members of the Upper Ohio
Valley Steelmark Month Committee at a luncheon at the Steubenville
Country Club. Preliminary plans were made for the kickoff dinner,
the Steelmark appreciation dinner and the Tin Can luncheon. The
Committee has scheduled a meeting for April 18, to be held in
Follansbee to finalize other plans for Steelmark Month events.

Church Services together on
Sunday, March 10 at the various
churches and will end the week
on Saturday, March 16 with a
Fun Day at Buchanan Junior
High from 2 to 4:30. Day Camp
Registrations will be accepted
that day.
