Dr. Samuel P. Harbison, Associate Dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, was
guest speaker at the 1968 Cancer Crusade Kick-off Dinner held Tuesday night, April 2, at St. Peter's
Church at 6:30 p.m. The goal for 1968 is $27,200.00. (1 to r) Dr. Harbison is shown with officials of the

Dr. Samuel P. Harbison, As-
sociate Dean of the School of
Medicine at the University of
Pittsburgh, was guest speaker
at the 1968 Cancer Crusade
Kick-off dinner. The dinner was
held Tuesday night, April 2,1968
at St. Peter's Church at 6:30
P.M.
Dr. Harbison is a graduate of
Cornell University. He served
as Chairman, Department of
Surgery, at the University of
Pittsburgh from 1952-1963. He
has been Associate Dean at the
School of Medicine since 1963
and is Secretary to the American
College of Surgeons. Dr. Harbi-
son has also served as Presi-
dent of the Allegheny County
Unit and the Pennsylvania
Division of the American Cancer
Society in the past.

The regular meeting of Council
was called to order by Mayor
Anthony Petrozzi, at 7:30 p.m.,
Tuesday, April 2, 1968, at the
City Building, 221 Leonard Ave.,
Wintersville, Ohio.
Several persons attending
Council inquired about road
grading and property clean up.
The Mayor announced a spring
clean up program will begin in
the very near future and numer-
ous roads will be graded, as soon
as weather permits. A special
meeting with Council will be
called by Mayor Petrozzi, to
work out the complete details of
the Clean Up Program. This
clean up will include all areas
where trash is dumped and autos
abandoned.
The monthly Police Report was
read by Mayor Petrozzi, as sub-
mitted by Victor Calabrese,
Chief of Police. It read as fol-

Wintersville Chamber Of Commerce
To Air Traffic Problem
A Fact Finding Committee of the Wintersville Chamber of Commerce met with State Highway officials
in New Philadelphia, Ohio on March 18, todiscuss possible solutions to the traffic situation in Wintersville.
A report of this meeting will be given at the regular Chamber of Commerce meeting on April 17 at
Village Hall at 7:30 p.m. All business establishments should have a representative at the meeting to air
their views. The general public is also invited to attend.

a letter from Captain Satterlee
of the Salvation Army, regarding
their new building program and
Council unanimously endorsed
its support.
Saturday, April 27th, was de-
clared Band Boosters Day in the
Village of Wintersville and the
Mayor and Council urged all
citizens to support this worthy
project.
Council voted unanimously to
purchase one fire extinguisher,
two reflectors, and six tires for
the Street department trucks.
Ordinance 731 was read for the
first time by Solicitor J. J.
Mascio. Second and third read-
ings were given and the Ordi-
nance was passed as of April
2, 1968. This Ordinance provides
the rules for motorcycles being
operated within the Corporate
limits of the Village of Win-
tersville.
Also Ordinance 732 was read
and passed, authorizing the sale
of a 1967 Ford Police Cruiser
not needed for any municipal
purpose.
The next meeting of Council
will be April 16, at 7:30. The
citizens of the Village are urged
to attend.

Soil & Water
Conservation To
Offer Scholarships
The Jefferson Soil and Water
Conservation District Board of
Supervisors met recently in the
home of Dave Grum, 133 Linmar
Avenue, Wintersville, Ohio.
Supervisors present were: Edgar
Buchanan, Joseph Rozsa, Vin-
cent West, Paul Ramsey, and
Walter Sutton. Also present were
Robert W. Smith and Gabe Rozsa,
Soil Conservation Service, Dave
Grum, County Extension Agent,
and Mrs. Joan Cybulski, District
Secretary.
Plans for the Ministerial Tour
and Luncheon were discussed.
The event will be held on May
1st at the Edgar Buchanan Farm
located near Bergholz, Ohio. All
local Ministers, Rabbis, and
Priests will be invited to attend.
Soil Stewardship material has
been purchased and will be dis-
tributed at this Tour and Lunch-
eon, to be used during Soil Stew-
ardship Week which is May 19th
through May 26th.
The Jefferson Soil and Water
Conservation District will again
offer two scholarships to the
Kent State Conservation Labora-
tory. The Lab is designed for
teachers at all grade levels who
are interested in environmental
sciences. The course will run for
five weeks and will carry nine
quarter hours of credit. Request
for additional information and
applications for the scholarship
may be obtained from the Dis-
trict office located in the Post
Office Building in Steubenville.

County Treasurer, announced a
total collection of Real Estate
Taxes and Assessments in the
amount of $5,186,536.96, which
is 97% of total charge, for the
1st half of 1967.
