Contracts Approved Foi
The Indian Creek Boara ox
Education approved contracts for
six principal positions. Those
employed for the 1968-1969
school year are: Michael
Ondayko, Harmony Elementary;
Joseph Talarico, Bantam Ridge
Elementary; Joseph Roshak,
Stark Elementary; Albino Bodo,
assistant Wintersville High
School; and William Welch, as-
sistant Buchanan Junior High.
Vincent Talarico and Jerry Al-
bert will share the assistant Win-
tersville Elementary position.
Resignations were accepted
from S.D. Cunningham, business
assistant; Mrs. Mary Hoobler,
home economics teacher; Mrs.
Lynn Reimer and Mrs. Marilyn
DeLuca, elementary teachers;
Mrs. Juarine Lee, cafeteria
supervisor; and Miss Donna Nel-
son, secretary. Mrs. Hoobler and
Mr. Cunningham are retirees.
Twelve teachers were em-
ployed for the 1968-1969 school
year. They are: Mrs. Elizabeth
Bordenklrcher, Miss GloriaStra-
face, Miss Mary Ann Vasich, and
Louis Ferrero, elementary; Miss
Patricia Gibson, biology; Miss
Marylou Panebianco, art; Philip
DeStefano, English; Miss Elaine
Soukup, home economics; George
Rodak, Jr., social studies; Guy
Marlnacci, mathematics; Frank
Musante, music; and John Minor,
English.
Other employment included
high school summer school
teachers: ESEA Title I project
supervisor, tounselor, teachers,
teacher aides, clerical aides, and
bus drivers; the Neighborhood
Youth Corps director and secre-
tary; four substitute school bus
drivers; and BenedictSicone, Jr.,
as bus mechanic.
The bid of J.T. Owens, Inc.,
for gas conversion units for the
boilers at Wintersville High and
Bantam Ridge Elementary-
Schools was accepted by the
board. The bid price was $24,470.
Other bidders were Ofler's, Inc.,
and Cattrell Plumbing.
A contract for the construction
of bus garages at Hills Elemen-
tary and Wintersvflle High School
was awarded to J.G. Madden and
Son, Canfield, Ohio. Also, the
lease proPosal ofNationalHomes,-
Inc., for six temporary class-
rooms to be erected at Winters-
On June 20, 21, and 22, 1968,
the Ohio League of Young Demo-
crats held their biannual conven-
tion in Youngstown, Ohio at the
Voyager Inn, for the purpose of
electing new officers for a two
year term.
On June 22, 1968, the meeting
of the Young Democrats of the
State of Ohio was called to order
by Ron Logan, State President, at
2:30 p.m. Sheriff Dick Wells led
the Pledge of Allegiance to the
flag.
The delegates from Jefferson
County were as follows: John
Tegano, President of Jefferson
County Young Democrats Club,
Gerald DiLoretta, Richard Angel-
ica, Dick Wells, Noel Stultz.
Several committee reports
were given and accepted by the
body. Next order of business was
election of officers. Richard J,
Ryan, Columbus, Ohio, Franklin
County, was elected president of
the State Club, along with Sheriff
Dick Wells being elected Vice-
President of the League of Young
Democrats of Ohio.
The guest-speaker was John A,
Gronouski, who resigned as Am-
bassador of Warsaw, Poland, to

Other action included approval
of a two-year depository agree-
ment with the Mingo National
Bank; approval for the clerk to
request a tax advance of $250,000;
approval of a playground super-
visor for Harmony Elementary;
acknowledgment of receipt of a
negotiation agreement, for fur-
ther study, with the Indian Creek
Education Association; and
setting the dates for the 1969
budget hearing and advertisement
of same.
Categories For The
Fourth of July Parade
Roy L. Lane, chairman of the
awards and judges sub-committee
of the Weirton Junior Chamber
of Commerce, announced that
there will be eight categories
entered in this years 4th of July
parade, which will take place at
10:00 on Main and West Streets in
Weirton. -
The categories are as follows:
First - Floats, judged on how
well they depict the parade theme,
"Freedom in Not Free", ingenu-
ity of the float and the ability
to make the best float at the least
expense.
Second - Fire Trucks,
Third - Decorated cars that
best depict the parade theme.
Fourth - Marching and drill
units.
Fifth - bands from the Ohio
Valley area.
Sixth - Decorated bicycles.
Seventh - Horse units or single
riders.
Eighth - Antique cars.
Floats in the money competi-
tion must pay an entry fee of $25.
Floats in all other categories
must post a $10 entrance fee,
which will be returned after the,
parade.

The Jefferson Council of the American Legion held their installation of officers on June 20, 1968 at
the Wintersville American Legion Post Home #557. Officers installed were: (seated, 1 to r) William

Weirton Steel to Hold Democrats Membership Drive
Fireworks Display
A colornu fireworks dispiay
will be sponsored again this year
by Weirton Steel Division of
National Steel Corporation as part
of Weirton's observance of Inde-
pendence Day, it was announced
by J.H. Harris, Chairman.
The annual display will be held
at 10 p.m. Thursday, July 4 at
the Weirton airport, where ade-
quate parking is available.
The fireworks program will
include many set pieces, more
than 200 multiple break aerial
rockets and a finale of several
hundred aerial rockets and flash
shells.
Zambelli Fireworks Manufac-
turing Company of New Castle,
Pa. will be in charge of the dis-
play. In case of rain on July 4,
the program will be held on July
5. Permits have been obtained
from the city of Weirton and the
