Wintersville Gets New Traffic Pattern
Wintersville Mayor, Anthony Jo
Petrozzi, informed this paper that
the Village of Wlntersville will
establish a new traffic pattern
for through traffic in the com-
munity.
The newly established third
l ane of traffic is intended to carry
traffic, on Main Street, for those
who wish to make left turns,
enabling through traffic to con-
tinue through, on the right lane,
without delay.
The Mayor stated that a great
majority of the traffic tie-up is
due to motorists wishing to make
left turns and being held up by
opposite bound traffic.
The traffic pattern is set up to
facilitate the flow ofthrough traf-
fic and those who want to make
a left turn.
This particular pattern was
established with the assistance of
Gordon Bookman, Traffic Field
Engineer, Division #11, Clarence
Krieger, Division Traffic En-
,gineer, R. P. Watsorn, District
Maintenance Supervisor, of the
Department of Highways, State of
Ohio, and the WintersvilleCham-
ber of Commerce.
Mayor Petrozzi stated the
speed limit through the Com-
munity will be set at 25 miles
per hour. The Ohio State Depart-
ment of Highways, has conducted
a traffic survey, upon the Mayors
request, and will submit a re-
commendation on the timing of
the traffic control signals.
Traffic will be permitted to
free right on Route 43, from
routes 22 and 43. The "Turn
Left on Red" sign has been re-
moved and will no longer be per-
mitted for East bound traffic
at the intersection.
The "Turn left on Red" sign at
Routes 22 and 43 and Fernwood
also has been removed for West
Bound Traffic.
There has been a question as
to what should be done to expedite
the flow of traffic through the
Community.
Mr. Geno Morelli, President
of the Wintersvllle AreaChamber
of Commerce, has formed a Com-
mittee to study the situation and

make recommendations to the
Village officials.
These suggestions met opposi-
tion with the merchants as it
would remove the parking on Main
Street. The Committee continued
to work with the officials to de-
velop some change which would
be suitable to the majority of
motorists.
Mayor Petrozzi stated the new
pattern was set up with the co-
operation of the Ohio State De-
partment of Highways and the
