CO NGRATULATIONS
Il/b /wirs
Ohio Inter-City Bowling Association held their Kick-Off Dinner
for the 1969 Tournament in Steubenville Sunday, October 6th at
the Federal Terrace. The officers of the state organizations, along
with local bowling officers, formulated plans for the 1969 Tourney.
The tournament will be held at Sunset Bowl in Steubenville, starting
March 1st and ending May 11th.
Sunset Bowl was chosen as the site for this year's tourney by the
officers and directors of the state group. This is quite an honor
and the first for Steubenville. The tournament is the 2nd largest and
2nd oldest in the state. It is also one of the most popular with the
bowlers. Over 400 teams will compete. Mayor Andrew Miller was
on hand to welcome the out-of-town officials. Joseph Smarrella
represented the Steubenville Bowling Association. George Wade
represented Sunset Bowl.
This type of tournament is a big boom to the hotels, motels,
restaurants and shopping areas, as many wives accompany their
husbands to this tournament. Steubenville and the surrounding area
should be proud to have such an event in the local area.
The public will be kept posted on all details of this event.
Shown above at the kick-off dinner are: (seated, 1 to r) Mayor
Andrew Miller; William Wendling, Tiffin, Ohio-President of the Ohio
Inter-City Bowling Association; and Jess Hays, Alliance, Ohio-
